12 “Let us lie in wait for the righteous man, (Matthew 12:14)
Because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions; (Matthew 23:25)
He reproaches us for sins against the law, (Matthew 23:23)
And accuses us of sins against our training. (Matthew 23:16)
13He professes to have knowledge of God, (Matthew 11:27)
And calls himself a child of the Lord. (John 8:42)14 “He became to us a reproof of our thoughts; (Matthew 9:4)
15The very sight of him is a burden to us, (John 11:47-48)
Because his manner of life is unlike that of others, (Matthew 9:11)
And his ways are strange.
16We are considered by him as something base,
And he avoids our ways as unclean;
He calls the last end of the righteous happy, (Matthew 5:10)
And boasts that God is his Father. (John 8:19)17 “Let us see if his words are true,
And let us test what will happen at the end of his life;
18For if the righteous man is God's son, he will help him, (Luke 22:70)
And will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries. (Matthew 27:40)19 “Let us test him (Matthew 22:15) With insult and torture,
That we may find out how gentle he is,
And make trial of his forbearance.
20Let us condemn him to a shameful death, (Matthew 12:14)
For, according to what he says, he will be protected.” (Matthew 27:41-43)21 Thus they reasoned, but they were led astray, for their wickedness blinded them, (Matthew 23:16)22and they did not know the secret purposes of God.(1 Corinthians 2:8)
